Rock Your Socks for Down Syndrome Awareness Day!

Home Events Community Outreach Rock Your Socks for Down Syndrome Awareness Day!

Get ready to rock your socks – and donate some new ones too! March 21 is Down Syndrome Awareness Day, and SSPAC is participating in a Rock Your Socks drive in partnership with the People’s Resource Center. All month we will be collecting new socks – from size infant to adult – to be donated in April.

There will be a collection bin outside Lincoln’s main door throughout March. There will also be collection boxes at Gather & Collect on Main St., St. Mark’s Church, and Faith Lutheran Church.

Don’t forget to show your support by rocking your own wacky socks on 3/21.

About 3-21 Foundation

Together we can create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome in our community and around the world.  Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks.  March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of DS chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!”

The event is finished.
