1st & 2nd Grade Spelling Bee – 6:00pm
For this age group, we are going to do our best to remove the frightening and/or awkward aspects of public speaking. In our format, participants are seated in a semi-circle facing a table of friendly announcers and judges. They will stand at their seat when their turn, in order remain surrounded by their peer group (and calm those nerves). Spelling words and example sentences are appropriate for this age group. Please review the Lincoln School Spelling List for comparable list of words. The first place winner will receive a trophy and be specially recognized by skinnysweet FROZEN YOGURT with a free fill-up.
All Grade Spelling Bee – 7:00pm
We will observe all of the official rules and regulations of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Participating students are seated in standard Bee set up in rows, and approach the announcer/judges when their turn. This will prepare students for the regional and national Bee setting. First and Second Graders can compete in either or both of the bees – their choice!
The word list used at this Bee is appropriately challenging and not available to students to study ahead of time. Please review the Scripps Word List Study Guides for comparable list of words.
First place winner will receive a trophy, specially recognized by skinnysweet FROZEN YOGURT with a free fill-up, and will be eligible to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee held in February.
