Rock Your Socks Drive
Rock Your Socks Drive
World Down Syndrome Day, which is observed on March 21 every year, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD, the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. On a chromosome chart, the chromosomes look similar to socks, which is where the idea for Rock Your Socks came from.
So, on March 21st every year we rock our funky or mismatched socks to celebrate everyone’s differences that makes all who we are. In order to help other Rock Their Socks, we are collecting new, unused socks to support People’s Resource Center in order to help everyone be able to Rock Their Socks. We will have a bin in the front vestibule for the month of March!
