Jen Brooks, Nancy Reno and Nia Joyner— A Celebration of 50 Years of Women’s Athletics and Title IX
The Glenbard Parent Series in partnership with the Glenbard female coaching staff is delighted to commemorate the historic 50th anniversary of Title IX, the federal law passed in 1972 which provided for the removal of barriers for female student athletes. Participation in sports plays a crucial role in developing leadership, confidence and team-building skills for men and women. Girls involved in athletics enjoy the benefits of improved health habits, and improved academics. To mark the special celebration, Jen Brooks the Athletic Director at Ursuline Academy will present The Power of Being the Only Woman in the Room. Also joining in conversation is Glenbard West alumna and Beach Volleyball Olympian Nancy Reno, a long time advocate and role model for female athletes and Glenbard East alumna Dr Netherland Joiner, Long Jump/Sprinter at Illinois Wesleyan. This inspirational event will create awareness and conversation on being your authentic self and the importance of allyship as women take their rightful seat at the table.
