At the Monday, April 30th meeting, Council learned about the social emotional and service learning programs offered by I Support Community from the Founder and Executive Director, Marion Ruthig. I Support Community offers youth service opportunities and curriculum in schools, on the weekend, at home, and in the community. Area PTAs have implemented their programs after school with the help of a parent lead volunteer and monthly event volunteers. I Support Community provides the curriculum and scripts for the lead.
Please bring a friend and attend the School Board Candidate Information Session this Wednesday, May 2nd, 7PM at the Hadley LMC! Past board members will serve as panelists to answer your questions and the Citizen Advocacy Center will present how to get on the ballot. This is a casual no pressure event and we hope to see you there!
The PTA Council is proud to award Nicole Mattson with a $2600 Scholarship to pursue a degree in education. Nicole is a D41 alum who is a strong student, active participant at Glenbard West, and has always pictured herself as a teacher. Nicole will attend the PTA Council Salad Supper and Alison Overtoom and Julie Humble will attend the Senior Convocation at Glenbard West for award presentation. The PTA Council scholarship is awarded annually to a D41 Alum pursuing a degree in Education and is based on need. Six qualified candidates were vetted by the Scholarship Committee. Congratulations Nicole!
Members approved the audit committee, executive slate for next year, a donation to the Citizen Advocacy Center, and the meeting minutes. The bylaws were also adopted with no changes from the previous year. District supply lists have been finalized and Supplies for Success has upgraded their supply kits to more closely match the basic list with kits from local supplier, Carlson. PTAs will be advised of the gaps, should they choose to supplement.
PTA Council will reconvene in the fall of 2018. Enjoy the end of school year celebrations and thank you for your service!
