At the Monday, November 27th meeting, Council members spoke with Mike Wood, Director of Technology and Dave Scarmardo, Director of Buildings and Grounds. Both reminded PTA leaders that purchases for the district should be coordinated in advance to ensure quality and fit within long range plans. Council members discussed the existing partnerships with the GE Park District for gym use and the surrounding community’s desire for outdoor basketball courts at Hadley.
Dr. Gordon, Erika Nelson, and Jodi Herbold celebrated the talent and positive direction of our district. As stewards of the district, PTA Leaders feel it is important to show appreciation to District staff through personal connection, sharing WOW moments, and positive social media messages. D41 recently present the LRP at the Triple-I conference and other Districts admired the how the PTAs were working to align with the LRP. Throughout the state, only 12 Districts have PTAs that also meet at the Council level, which strengthens parent engagement.
Council members continued their discussion of how their programs and resources align to the Long Range Plan. Most compiled their information into a spreadsheet, which showed the count of programs, dollars spent, and number of volunteers by LRP Strategy. Schools may wish to continue filling out the data to further understand volunteer hours and the percentage of students impacted. They are encouraged to meet with their building Principal to review this information and determine next steps.
Please encourage members to share their WOW (Warm-Open-Welcoming) moments with the staff by emailing wearewow@d41.org about their experience.
Council members will meet again on Monday, January 29th.
