About the Ambassadors

Who are Lincoln Student Ambassadors?

Supported by our PTA, Lincoln Student Ambassadors are 5th grade school leaders that contribute their time and effort to help make Lincoln School a great place to learn and Glen Ellyn a better community to live. This program will educate the Ambassadors on the Character Counts! philosophy which focuses on six pillars of character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. As Ambassadors, we will discuss how we can demonstrate them at home, in the classroom, and in the community.

What are the Responsibilities of a Student Ambassador?

We will discuss the Character Counts! pillars of character as they align with Lincoln’s Learner Characteristics, and discuss how we can support them on a regular basis. We will identify and implement various service projects that will benefit our community. Ambassadors may also be asked to provide assistance to the school/staff/PTA as appropriate.

What are the expectations of an Ambassador?

Ambassadors meet as a group once a month during lunch & recess, with special meetings, as necessary. Participation in Student Ambassador activities is highly encouraged. Appropriate behavior is required. Support from both parents and students is necessary to make the Lincoln Student Ambassador program a success.

What activities do Ambassadors coordinate?

Ambassador activities include organizing a school-wide food drive for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, identifying service projects for the year (such as collecting candy for the troops), and supporting PTA and other school wide activities.

When and where do Ambassadors meet?

All meetings will be held the first Thursday of the month during 5th grade lunch/recess in designated 5th grade classrooms.

What is the character of a Student Ambassador?

  • A Lincoln Student Ambassador is honest and trustworthy.
  • A Lincoln Student Ambassador is respectful to all.
  • A Lincoln Student Ambassador is responsible.
  • A Lincoln Student Ambassador performs schoolwork, obeys rules, listens, and plays fairly.
  • A Lincoln Student Ambassador is kind and caring in both words and actions.
  • A Lincoln Student Ambassador is a good environmental steward.

How does my student sign up to be an Ambassador?

Applications are available at the beginning of each school year. We encourage students to discuss this program with parents/guardians, and review and fill out an application prior to the deadline. A completed application is necessary to participate.
